Sustainability + Our Industry

There are many reasons why someone chooses to work in the hospitality industry. What is it we love about it so much? Is it the passion for it? Is it the endorphin rush in service? Is it that serotonin boost you get seeing happy customers? Is it because you can’t see yourself sitting at a desk?… this list could go on forever. 

While there’s lots of enjoyment working in the industry, what is loved so much about it could overtime wear someone out. High staff turnover, long shifts, difficult guests, unsociable hours, wear and tear on the body, unhealthy eating habits, we have all been affected by these stressors one way or another. A survey conducted with 700 hospitality workers in North America stated that 86% of those workers were experiencing burnout.

So the question is how do we cope with these stressors in a healthy way to continue working in an industry we are passionate about?

Why is it so important?

Maintaining ones health + wellness is important to living a higher quality life inside and outside of work. Why is it important? Everything we do relates to our well-being. Incorporating health + wellness can help subdue stress, reduce the risk of illness, ensure positive interactions, and  sustainably work an industry we are passionate about.

For The Workplace

The workshop

  • Incorporating topics focusing on managing stress, physical activity, diet and lifestyle, this interactive workshop will explain the importance of incorporating health + wellness in, resulting in optimum performance and productivity. This workshop is designed to inspire, educate, and motivate the team members. Bringing together experts in the field of health and wellness, allows team members to have a holistic understanding of ways to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle in an approachable way.

    • Duration: This 2 hour interactive educational workshop focuses on the topics: the impact of lifestyle, movement as medicine, managing + balancing stress, and food as fuel.

    • Location: The workshop is facilitated at the workplace (alternate location can be arranged if workplace is not suitable for the workshop).

    • Speakers: Experts in the fields of integrative nutrition, fitness, and stress management will conduct the workshop.

    • Interactive Learning: Participants will engage in group discussions related to the topics.

    • Wellness Resource Booklet: Each participant will receive a take home informational booklet including guides, tips, and a bonus 7 day wellness tracker.

  • Educational Empowerment: The workshop aims to educate participants on the fundamentals of nutrition, exercise, stress management, and lifestyle choices, providing evidence-based information to guide healthy choices.

    Practical Skill Development: Through interactive sessions, participants will learn practical skills and techniques for diet, exercise routines, relaxation, and mindfulness practices.

    Lifelong Health Awareness: The workshop seeks to instill a lifelong commitment to health awareness, equipping participants with the tools to make informed choices and adapt to changing health needs.

  • Upon completion of the workshop, participants can expect to:

    • Gain a deeper understanding of the key components of health and wellness.

    • Acquire practical skills for improving nutrition, fitness, and stress management.

    • Feel empowered to make informed and sustainable choices for a healthier lifestyle.

    • Establish a support network with fellow co-workers, facilitator and speakers.

For The Individual

1:1 Coaching

  • Through personalized 1:1 coaching, I’ll work alongside you to develop an integrated approachable plan to achieve full body wellness. We will focus on holistic practices to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle in an approachable way.

    • Duration: 3 or 6 month plans

    • Bi-weekly 60 minute 1-on 1 sessions via Zoom.

    • Takeaway notes from our sessions.

    • Unlimited support in between sessions via email or Voxer.

    • Helpful tools, tips, tricks and support to help you reach your goals.

  • Holistic Well-Being: Centered on the principle of holistic well-being, incorporating focus on physical health, mental wellness, diet and lifestyle.

    Education: The program seeks to educate you on the importance of healthy living and provide supporting resources.

    Improved Habits: Through 1:1 support, the program aims to help you adopt and sustain healthier lifestyles.

    Preventive Health: By emphasizing preventive health measures, the program seeks to improve knowledge towards health and wellness leading to optimum performance and productivity.

The energy tracker at the end of the seminar use to track your seven day cycle is very useful and prompts introspection on how small things on a daily basis affect your mood and energy. Chef + Integrative Nutrition Health Coach

Sonia Mondino

In 2016, at the age of 24, I opened my first restaurant, Pray Tell. My passion for food soared, but my mental and physical health did not. Working endless hours, I realized the importance of health + wellness in my daily life.

Once I gradually started making changes to my lifestyle, my life truly changed for the better. Mentally, physically, at home, at work... overall.

It's very easy to "push past" those feelings of stress, exhaustion, unhealthy eating/ extracurricular habits, lack of sleep but really is it sustainable?

Fast forward to 14+ years in the hospitality industry, I have shifted gears into helping people thrive holistically. Combining my love for the hospitality industry + health and wellness, I am passionate about building a stronger connection towards health + wellness within the Hospitality Industry.
